Hide From Their Eyes by ~Ace-of-Aces:iconAce-of-Aces:

She walks in the daylight
the morning sun bright
but nobody knows she's got something to hide.

Her feet fleet and swift
her bangs in her eyes
trying to protect her friends from her lies.

She hurries through the warmth
seeking the cold
avoiding the new
but loathing the old.

Nobody gets a good look at her face
nobody knows the truths she’s erased.

The crowd thinning out
the day growing old
hating herself and her own heart of gold.

As day turns to night
she finds what she seeks
a thousand black ravens with scissors for beaks.

They want what they see
their desires burn bright
to remove her soul with a midnight black bite.

She spreads out her arms
welcoming death
far from expecting her lover’s warm breath.

The arms wrap around her
they protect her from harm
filling her heart with love’s tender charm.

The ravens back down
her life is spared
all because of one someone who cared.

She’s spirited away to a sweet golden land
far, far away from pain’s seeking hand.

When it comes, she’ll be ready
to breathe a last breath
to embrace final cold
to welcome death.

But until that time comes
she now loves the sun
forsaking the cold near her special someone.

The new and the old are all parts of life
good and evil
peace and strife.

She walks among others
with nothing to hide
proudly showing her bright hazel eyes.

Her feet now slow down
there’s nothing left to avoid
leaving the ravens behind in the void.

But she remembers her fear
she’ll never forget
but with it, her lover.

No more regrets.

This is a poem I wrote about a particular dream I had...it was an odd one, but it got great critique when I read it at Slam. This is my best, longest, and most polished piece, by far. I want to try and publish this along with a few others, but first I want all of you to see it. See if I can make it even better...
